MUSIC INSTRUCTOR

Bassist, composer, arranger, and bandleader from the SF Bay Area. Born in Palo Alto, CA in 1994, and raised in Redwood City, CA. His music foundation started with Piano and Trumpet in 2004, before moving on to Electric bass and then Double Bass. He composes music, and performs on the upright bass, electric bass, and fretless electric bass around the Bay Area: Jazz, Funk, Swing, Bebop, Hard-Bop, Fusion, Gypsy Jazz, Bossa Nova, Samba, Son, Bolero, Reggae, Blues, Ska, Hip Hop, Rock, Cumbia, Salsa, etc. Some of his earliest musical influences include James Jamerson, Paul Chambers, Jaco Pastorius, Charles Mingus, Ron Carter, Dave Holland, Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Thelonious Monk, and Miles Davis. Marley Edwards studied music and composition formally; 4 years as a Music Major at the College of San Mateo and 4 years at the California Jazz Conservatory in Berkeley, CA, where he received the Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies in June 2019. He has studied with musicians such as Kai Eckhardt, Erik Jekabson, John Santos, Frank Martin, Steve Erquiaga, Glenn Richman, Dann Zinn, Mike Gallisatus, Chuck Mackinnon, John Gove, Mike Zilber, Alam Kahn, Edward Simon, Jim Kerwin, Michael Ray, among others.
