Geonnie Adams
MUSIC INSTRUCTOR
Geonnie D. Adams was born on June 30, 1984, into a world where music would soon become his lifelong passion. From a young age, Geonnie exhibited a natural inclination towards musical expression. At just three years old, he began his journey with the guitar, quickly demonstrating an impressive ability for someone so young. By the age of seven, he was already performing alongside his father, Jimmie Adams Jr., at various churches, marking the beginning of his active involvement in the music community.
As Geonnie turned nine, he became a familiar face in the Bay Area music scene, touring and playing at numerous venues. His musical journey took a pivotal turn at the age of fifteen when he was inspired by Elder Nate Justin to explore the bass guitar. This new passion led him to hone his skills at the Bethany Church of God in Christ, where he was fortunate enough to be mentored by talented musicians like Elder Donelle Wright and Byron Williams. Under their guidance, Geonnie’s unique style and proficiency as a bass player flourished, allowing him to stand out in a competitive field.
Throughout his career, Geonnie has had the privilege of playing at a myriad of churches, concerts, and notable venues, including El Jardines, Jazz Festivals, Thea at Santana Row, The Loft, Venture Church, Central Church, Bethel Church of San Jose, Bethany Church of Gilroy, Stanford University Chamber Choir, Roux at Santana Row, and Jubilee Christian Center. His journey continues to evolve, as he remains active in the music scene, sharing his talents with audiences far and wide.
In addition to his musical pursuits, Geonnie developed a keen interest in photography over the years. This artistic eye allowed him to capture the essence of his experiences as a professional musician. His education in photography was fortified through the Riekes Center in Menlo Park, where he not only learned the craft but also took on the role of teacher, imparting his knowledge to others. Geonnie has successfully combined his passions, capturing live performances at recitals and stopping time in significant moments, celebrating the art of music in its purest form.
Today, Geonnie D. Adams stands as a testament to dedication and artistry, continuing to inspire others through his music and photography, and leaving an indelible mark on the communities he touches.
